Tour 6: Vegan offerings at the Christkindlesmarkt

CTZ Nürnberg

Our self-guided tour starts at stall 47 of Jan-Louis Vespermann, who for the first time this year is offering vegan sandwiches and deep-fried vegetables.

Diagonally opposite, at the tea concept stand of Wurzelsepp stall 36, tea lovers will find a variety of organic, vegan teas with high-quality ingredients and exceptional flavours.

At Marx Schokolade in Booth 51, there are not only Lebkugeln and truffles. The range also includes vegan fruit and nuts in dark chocolate.

Just a few steps further, the Stahlmann family in Booth 53 offers vegan hot sausages with onions on request.

Fancy something warm? Then head for Dominik Jukic at stand 79, who offers hot drinks without animal ingredients, such as delicious hot chocolate with oat milk.

If you're hungry now, you can treat yourself next door at stall 80 with corn on the cob, a vegan mushroom pan with onions or vegan mashed potatoes.

Or would you prefer Nuremberg roast sausages, for which you can smell in every corner of the Christkindlesmarkt? Karin and Norbert Maisel's stall 127 offers the Nuremberg specialty in a vegan version.

Like the bratwurst, Nuremberg Lebkuchen are just as much a part of a visit to the Christkindlesmarkt. The extensive range from Lebkuchen-Schmidt (stall 128) also includes vegan gingerbread, which you should definitely try.

The sweet manufacturer from Fürth offers a range of vegan sweets and lollipops from its own production. You can find these treats at booth 130, sold by Mahmut Kayhan.

Next door is stall 131 of the Schleicherei soap factory. They also sell vegan products - but not for eating in this case. Instead, soaps without animal ingredients from their own production are offered.

At the end of the tour there is once again a warm refreshment. Karin Hoffmann at stand 146 will be serving delicious vegan potato pancakes - known here in Franconia as “Baggers” - made from freshly grated potatoes.

Tip: At the Nuremberg Christmas market, vegans don't have to miss out on the Christmas classics! Almost every gingerbread and mulled wine stall offers a lovingly made, vegan alternative. So even those who follow a purely plant-based diet can enjoy fresh gingerbread and hot mulled wine at the Christkindlesmarkt.
