Children’s Christmas Market "Kinderweihnacht"
When counting the days to Christmas, a visit to the "Christmas City" of Nuremberg is an unforgettable experience for little ones. Since 1999, the Children's Christmas Market on Hans-Sachs-Platz, with its special programs geared for children, has appealed to the whole family. Here, right next to the Christkindlesmarkt, you can find a nostalgic two-tiered merry-go-round, a mini Ferris wheel and a steam railway.
Hands-on booths for children
Lovingly decorated little houses (just the right size for children!) tempt you with delicious food and drink and Christmas articles. Little visitors can take an active part at the many "hands-on" booths. Like a Christmas bakery, where the children can bake little shooting stars, teddy bears or hearts out from honey cake dough, decorating them afterwards with almonds, nuts, colorful streusel coconut flakes. At the children’s post office, a yellow post box is waiting for the written or painted wishing lists of the children. Besides that other hands-on booths like candle-making, poker work or the glass house offer many varieties for children to make their own special presents.
Meet the Christkind!
A highlight for the little ones is the visit of the Nuremberg Christkind. From December 5 to December 22, every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 2:30 pm, she invites children to ride free on the merry-go-round. There the little ones can talk to her and even hand in their wishing lists. The Christkind also comes to the “Sternenhaus” children’s theater and music center to read fairy tales.
